What is ISOfix and how does it make your life easier?

Do you have ISOfix points in your car? Great! These allow you to secure your child's car seat safely and easily in your car.

How does this work? You can find ISOfix attachment points on the rear seats in your car. These metal arches are connected to the base of your car. Your child's car seat has ISOfix arms with connectors that you can easily click onto the metal points. Since this is where the car seat attaches directly to the base of the car, ISOfix is very user-friendly and limits misuse of the seatbelt.

ISOfix is an international standard, yet it can vary from car to car. We’ll list some important things for you:

On which seats can I fasten the ISOfix car seat?

If your car has ISOfix, it doesn't mean that every seat has it. In most cases, the outer seats on the back seat have anchorage points. The passenger seat and middle back seat often do not have them.

Decide in advance where you want to place your child's car seat. Then check whether your car allows you to fasten the car seat with ISOfix in that place. Is this not the case? Then you can also use the seat belt to install the seat.

Hidden ISOfix points

In some cars, the ISOfix attachment points are hidden deep inside the seat or between two seats. This can make it more difficult to fasten the car seat, but it’s not impossible. The arms on the BeSafe seats allow you to reach deeper ISOfix points. Our tip: find the points with your hand before attaching the car seat to them.

Steep car seats and ISOfix points can be a problem for rearward facing car seats

Are the seats in your car steep and do they have lower ISOfix points? Then make sure your child's car seat is not positioned too straight. It won't cause a problem in terms of safety, but it can be uncomfortable for babies and small children.

How do you solve this? BeSafe took up this challenge and came up with Universal Level Technology™, a special technology where the car seat is always in the most comfortable position. Watch this video to see how the Universal Level Technology™ works. You can find this system in the BeSafe 360° rotational seats iZi Turn i-Size and iZi Turn B i-Size.

You always choose the best for your child, a great car seat is no exception. For optimal protection and easy use, the car seat should fit your child, your car, and your family situation. Testing, testing, testing is the golden rule! Try out the car seat with your child in your car before you buy it.
